Our Friends from Glenn Abbey Software, Inc. have added a script that helps you check your install of PHP & PostgreSQL. This scripts checks for many of the most common problems users encounter when installing Centre. This makes for easier diagnosis of installation problems.

Feel free to add to this script anything that you see fit. The script is in Downloads:Contributions.

Please forgive what I am sure is a totally stupid question, but I cannot find the download area you refer to either in the forums section or in the downloads section. Could you please guide me to it? I just installed Centre and I think I have a php/Postgres config issue.

Look in your Centre folder for "diagnostic.php".

Use it as in
http://www.yourserver.com/centre/diagnostic.php

I have installed Apache 2.2.4 module, PHP 5.2.1 and PostgreSQL 8.2. My operating system is Windows XP and after running the "diagnostic.php", it is giving two errors.

QUOTE:
* The value for $CentrePath in config.inc.php is not correct or else the functions directory does not have the correct permissions to be read by the webserver. Make sure $CentrePath points to the Centre installation directory and that it is readable by all users.
* PHP was not compiled with PostgreSQL support. You need to recompile PHP using the --with-pgsql option for Centre to work.

How to overcome this???

* Displays various current system settings.
* Verify proper structure of the iraf tree, iraf path definition, installation of binaries, iraf user account, and permissions and ownerships of files.
* Verify that the install script was run on the machine.
* Verify that IRAF networking is enabled on the current machine and recommends a dev$hosts file entry for the node.
* Verify and display information about the display servers and associated files available on a machine. Will detect missing fifo pipes or imtoolrc files which lead to display errors.
* Verify and display information for tape devices.
* Defined external packages are checked for correct path, helpdb installation, and installed binaries. Information displayed can be used to quickly determine which packages need updating.

Sample output from the task run on one of the NOAO systems is available so you can get a better sense of what the program does.

This file is now included with all centre installs. It can be found in your centre directory, and the file name is diagnostic.php. Just open up the web address in a browser of your choice.

You don't need to download it. When you download centre, it now comes with every centre download. Look in your centre directory on your web server. It is called diagnostic.php. When this file was first introduced, it was an extra download, now it comes with a download of centre.
